I said no to $200,000, and here’s why I don’t regret it.
Intentions don’t matter. Actions do. That’s why being ethical is hard.
Have you ever been in a situation where you had an opportunity to do business with someone who would earn you or your business hundreds and thousands of dollars, and yet your gut says, “Don’t do it? “
I was recently in a similar situation where I got an offer to work on a project which could add $200,000 yearly revenue to my business.
And guess what? I said no!
You must be thinking, like, “Sahas, are you crazy to say no to over $200,000?”
Call me crazy, but I took that decision on the basis of my values and what my business stands for.
Let me explain.
It’s not really about the money for me, and I know a lot of people might say that too and yet fall into its traps because the extrinsic value of money gives you the feeling of power, and saying no to power is hard.
Everyone craves power and status. Many starve from getting it.
