Do Not Ask Without Giving First
Asking you to subscribe to my YouTube channel is not enough!
It may get a few people to subscribe with the sheer curiosity of what it would be like. Or some friends who may want to support me. But over time, they may unsubscribe or not follow along because of 2 reasons:
1. They did not know what they were getting into.
2. I haven’t delivered what they expected me to.
And the reason for this is the vagueness of the call to action without stating the benefits of what they will get if they subscribe.
A lot of people do that mistake and believe others will follow either way. People won’t follow until they feel heard, and they will feel heard if you are helping them avoid the pain or move them closer to pleasure.
It’s simple, yet it’s complicated. Do you know why?
Because you want to feel heard and supported too. And that email you send or the post you publish is based on your pain of wanting to be acknowledged and followed. That’s where you miss the point.
It’s not about you, it’s about them.
