An ice cream vendor could be generous in many ways other than giving you an extra scoop for free.

Generosity doesn’t mean free. In fact, generosity is priceless. It’s an act of giving value without expecting to get anything in return.

Imagine after serving you a free extra scoop, the ice cream vendor says, “now, it’s your turn.”

What makes you generous?

Generosity is…

giving feedback to someone that makes their work better.

helping someone cross the road.

listening to someone who was in pain and going through a rough patch.

teaching a skill, through a course.

providing a high-value service that makes someone’s life better.

When you portray such actions, then you are generous.

Sure, you can give the last two for free. But if you can charge for it, do it. Because you’ll be on the hook to deliver something of value. And giving something of value that encourages a change in someone, is being generous.

Change the narrative around free. Generosity is invaluable.

If you think this post might change someone’s perspective, then be generous in sharing it with them.

Be generous,

Sahas
